Only problem is I don't know what I'm looking for.
They all seem to tell me about their impedence in ohms, but is that better higher or lower? Also are there any other things that affect the quality. Budget is less than £100.
Cheers,

There's no text-book answers on the quality of speakers - you can have some that sound great (...) on paper but are crap to the ears. Your best bet is to ask for an audition - take a couple of your favourite CDs and ask them to connect the speakers to a system that's a similar spec to yours. Or ask if they'll let you pay a returnable deposit so you can try them at home.
You can get some superb "bookshelf" speakers from the likes of Denon, Mission and Kef for under £100.
