why is the GC 100 quid less than say the ps2 and x box when it is released....

I don't get it either. If Xbox, selling at 299 dollars can produce such a crap console, how can Nintendo make a great one from less cash? just goes to show that its not the "powe is money" thing that is always the case nowadays.
Just look at nintendo's profits, they have made a 72% increase even with the n64 doing really poorly in the last year. The cube should destroy the x-box. Especially in america.

Because Nintendo are keeping the Gamecube as a Games Console instead of a multi-entertainment device, they keep the costs down which means that they don't need to keep prices high to make profits...
No DVD player, no CD player and last but no least...no twistable badge on the GAMECUBE. Well, maybe the last one doesn't matter too much!
