Got one of these phone calls t'other day and to be honest, it's an utter disgrace. Apparently they're 100% legal as well, as the "companies" (in this case, company = thievin' money grabbin' criminals) are based at a non-UK location.

Lukily, I'm not stupid so I didn't press "9", but what if my 5-year old cousin had picked up the phone?

Argghhh! It makes me maaad.

Anyone else been hassled by these phone calls?

Indeed, it's to do with Trading Standards.

Just go to their site and have a look around.

I dont get any of these phone calls any more. I signed up on a website a while back to remove my number from the calling lists and it seems to have worked.

I cant for the life of me remember the site, before anyone asks. I followed a link from a thread on these forums if thats helps tho.

Nope, it's just a silly rumour. Pressing 9 confirms theres a human at the other end of the line as the machine will just hang up otherwise.

I thought that pressing 9 transfers you to a premium rate connection? Or that's what I've heard.
