However, my old PC was working until suddenly (+2 hours I had been working on it) it said my LAN wasn't working.
The IP address on both has changed from 192.168 something to 167.254 something yet it has stayed the same on my brother's machine?
I tried manually changing the IP adresses back but it failed. I'm sure it isn't connected because the IP address have changed but I don't know how to get it working.
The most annoying thing is it did it on it's own... I'm a firm beleiver of "not broken, don't fix it".
Grrr
I have no idea how, I was messing about with stuff and downloading programs and WWOWOWOOOOSSSSSHHHH done.
Now, back to studying.
We have a router which my PC is connected to - ie it is the head.
All machines run Windows XP
My laptop was first to break then my PC. So the main computer another connecting one have broken whilst the other PC (one I'm on) is workin fine.
At least if they were all broken it would make some sense.
The internet said something of a Windows update but I haven't downlaoded one, also a Windowsock fixing thing?
My dad's work laptop is connected too but I haven't tried it yet.
EDITL: I was working, thinking about walking out, throwing up in toilet to come home to be told first thing he'd broken my expensive laptop. I was very glad to hear such news.
