Before I get heavily into this - Does anyone know whether the PHP version on Freeola has this implemented and if so has anyone used and have any feedback they may wish to give?

Google's API module is written by Zend and is not a default module for a PHP install. Therefore our servers do not have the require gData module installed and probably won't do for the foreseeable future as adding this would make the server software difficult to maintain.
