.... Gay Dad?
Hot Hot Heat?
The White Stripes?
The Strokes?
The Hives?
JJ72? (I actually thought these were rubbish. Their single Snow or Winter or whatever it was called was utter pants).

And all the other groups we were told would be the next big thing.

Well they are brother and sister, are they not? And hate to bring him back up, but Joey Deacon could drum better than Meg.

Aside from The Hives they're all dead.

In my dreams.

I saw a girl band on television the other day called "The Suffrajets"...

An entire women's movement raped so that skinny bints in slinky outfits can sell 1000 copies of a CD to little girls.

EDIT: And if they're lucky they'll play the Midweek Lottery Show.

Have you actually bothered looking for half these bands? The White Stripes, Strokes and Hives are all still around, whether touring, recording or releasing records. Anyone who tells you someone is the next big thing is a marketing/A&R butthead who shouldn't be trusted, especially around small children.

EDIT: Unless, of course, you were told this by the NME, the pissy little indie rag that used to matter, until they started the good old build-'em-up, knock-'em-down system which makes it all but unreadable these days as you struggle to remember who they said they liked last week. It's all to sell copies of the mag - "This band will change your life!" etc - and they'll champion anyone who's record company throws a big enough wedge their way. Oh yeah, and Gay Dad's lead singer being an ex-NME writer had nothing to do with their, albeit brief, popularity.

The White Stripes seem to be splitting up every 3 or 4 weeks.

I think they're recording an album though (As Light said).
