I wanna clean out my big PC because I've had it for 4 1/2 years, plus we've had 3 dogs for most of that time too.

As you can guess the state of the inside of that computer will be about a million times worse than my laptop was!

Anyway, what safe ways will there be of cleaning it all out? Vacuuming causes lots of static and I can't be bothered to use compressed air as that will result in dust going everywhere and me sneezing myself to death.

Not sure what would be the best way, and it seems that vacuuming is OK as long as you don't hold it over components for too long.

Google has provided me with an interesting solution too!

"I recon you should hire an elephant from the local zoo for the day, try and hypnotise him so that he thinks the dust on your computer is really monkey nuts and then just watch as he sucks it all up. Last time I checked it was about £2.49 to hire one for the day, much cheaper than compressed air."

Any ideas will be appreciated. Thanks.

Whoops, I meant it's silver in colour! It's a Dell PC by the way, so I doubt it will be real siver!

Silver is one of the best thermal conductors there is. Copper is also very good, but not as good. But then silver is expensive...

Are you sure it's silver and not aluminium? Silver would be very expensive for a heatsink. Aluminium is often used in place of copper because it's cheaper and lighter, but it's thermal conductivity isn't as good.

I think it's slightly quieter, but the fans wern't that bad really, it was just in need of a clean up.

The heatsink was clogged up like anything, plus this one is sliver unlike the copper one in my laptop. I'm guessing there's no real difference in the conductivivivivty of them?

I vacuumed it out, can't believe how much dust builds up in just four and a half years!

No real difference in the way it runs, but I wasn't expecting there to be anything. I just know that I've maybe prolonged it's life by a few more years.

Seriously Phil just ignore me with the button.

I'm not going to be petty about it, it wouldn't bother me in the slightest.

It's obvious that some of my actions rub you up the wrong way so just use the ignore button. I won't make fun of your or anything if you have me on ignore: infact I'd welcome the fact that we don't have to have these discussions anymore about what constitutes a valid post.

Anyway it's up to you but bear in mind that I said this next time, if there is a next time. :)

Over the years I've become very jaded after many bad experiences with customer services, you have bucked the trend. Polite and efficient from the Freeola team, well done to all involved.
