What does everyone think of the late great John Peel as i am a new member i would like to see lots of peoples opinions

I think he is a genius and without him The White Stripes and The Clash and The Undertones wouldnt have been as big as they are now

He was a legend, but I wouldn't start a whole thread on him.

You wish your dad was dead?

Cool guy, just had one of those warm, chocolate brown voices. Most of the music he played baffled me, but I'm fully aware of his contribution to modern music and the role he played in the development of a lot of new bands. Watching Glasto on the telly won't be the same with just Jo "Terrahawks" Whiley to cover it.

My favourite quote of his, and it highlights that he'd play stuff that even he didn't quite understand if it appealed to him:
"I think I just played that at the wrong speed"

I wish he was my dad

I know very little about him, to be honest. I wouldn't quite call him a genius, though. He just played the songs he liked. For every band he made big, there were probably 100 more who you never heard from again.

He has to be commended for trying different things and not going for the norm - and still managing to stay popular.
