Recently got my new phone - tis isnt a topic where I brag about it - and I was just wondering where people get their wallpapers/ringtones from. All the places online seem obsurdly priced. My phone can play midi files if thats any help. Also I was considering getting a data cable for my Nokia 3220. Again the official ones are £30, does anyone know if the unofficial ones work equally well on XPSP2? I'm thinking a data cable would be the most cost effective option. Cheers for any relevant info.

While we're on the subject of mobiles :

Does anyone know where I could get a USB for my NEC 338 ?, it doesn't come with one and normal ones don't fit the slot :(

And, for anyone with the phone and/or on '3', is 3 services actually WAP? and although it says type a URL in options when I try it doesn't go to the site and says connection not made (something like that) any special method needed? (or am I just trying sites that can't be played?)

Cheers

I got a nokia 7710 (not realised over here yet) it's got a 640x480 resolution. I use it to watch movies and browse the internet on it (on it now) Thanks to O2 for some reason I get free GPRS on pay as you go, you are only supposed to have a meg, but you can change the IP address and port! (8080) and have downloaded over 100 megs this month and has yet to charge me for it!

does your phone support memory cards? if so, download stuff from the net onto the MMC card directly, it's the quickest way of transfering data. You could use blue tooth or a data cable depending if you phone supports BT and you have a BT dongle

also, does it have realplayer installed, or can it be installed via symbian because you can download movies or buy a disc of ebay loaded with movies and tv programmes

Spent ages trying to find an unlock code to restore the factory settings, only to be told it was 12345. Anyway my phone has now been restored to its former glory. Off to get it unlocked tomorrow.

Ok now I have a problem, everytime I switch my phone on I get the message "Check Connection Settings" just after the 'Strength' meter shows up. I'v downloaded the most recent Configuration files from Orange and twidled with settings but to no avail. Would try and restore to factory settings but that requires some sort of code which I dont appear to have. Shall have to take it down to my local Orange shop tomorrow. Unless any of you knwo why this is happening?

That shouldn't be a problem as long as you have the nokia driver software... at the end of the day, a cable is a cable.

Plus you'll be able to get ringtones for free. Just go to a site that lets you preview them and select the preview. The midi file will be stored in your temporary internet files. I scammed about 200 ring tones out of some unsuspecting website back in the days when I was a student with a Nokia.
