"Another Tsunami?"

Another earthquake, 8.2 on the Richter Scale occurred about two hours ago.

At least they'll be better prepared....

My aunt was staying i Phuket (pronounced poo-ket) in Thailand when the earthquae occured. There was a tsunami scare, everyone was warned in hotels. There won;t be another one now, however.

No thanks, still got a splitting headache from the last one.

There was something in the news a while back about the staggering drop in numbers going to mass in the affected areas - can't really blame them, something like that happens and you'd be hard pressed to believe someone's up there looking out for you.

Christ, hundreds dead again, only going to get worse... I have no idea how I'd cope with something like this, how do you keep faith when planet Earth keeps taking a dump on you?

The Richter scale is not a scale about how powerful an eartquake is but only how much damage it causes, so it can fluctuate. An eartquake in the Sahara may only get a 2 or 3 but in London, say, it would be 8 or 9.

Not too good with this stuff, but how can it go from 8.2 to 8.7? Was 8.2 just an estimate or something or does it change?

First thought upon reading this was, "Jesuz, those sonova--" then wondered who to blame it on.. It's like you need someone to blame for these freakin' Earthquakes. It really isn't fair on those people. Just want to do something!! Kinda wanna give up my tomorrow and go there just to help already, yet nothing's been damaged [yet?]. Wish I was God.

Apparently the Rictor scale number has risen to 8.7 now.
