I'm trying to find the "right" p2p, and posted about LimeWire in the Movies forum. But I've been getting conflicting stuff about the spyware stuff involved and so on. So I'm going to try here, because I'm sure you guys know more about it.

So...I've downloaded Ad-Aware and PeerGuardian in my absolutely clueless attempt to combat the world, which I'm sure wants to get into my laptop and corrupt my work. It's vindictive this way.

Is this the way foward? What's the "right" p2p? Hit me with advice people. Please.

The latest version of Limewire doesn't have spyware.

What you should have though, all for free, are:
AVG Antivirus Free Edition
Spybot Search & Destroy
Lavasoft Ad-Aware
Spyware Blaster
Zonealarm, if you aren't on Windows XP.

You can get spyware/virus infested software + media off any P2P network. If you're downloading and running britney_sucking_off_donkey.mpg.vbs.bat.exe from any untrustworthy source then that opens up your computer to every form of internet nasty going.

I had Limewire for a while, but I managed to pick up "Grokster" in one of my Spyware scanners, and that was the only program I had installed for a while. It has since been uninstalled.

As far as P2P stuff is concerned, it depends what you're looking for. If you want, like me, Anime (and for that matter, Films, whole albums and Tv shows then BitTorrent clients (Azureus, BitTornado, BitComet etc) are the way to go, but for music tracks I'd say stick to Limewire Pro.
