For those of you who aren't aware of it, Adult Swim is a late night section on Cartoon Network in the USA. Gone are The Powerpuff Girls and Cow and Chicken, instead there's programmes aimed at an adult audience. These include:
Space Ghost Coast to Coast - The 70's superhero has been reinvented as a late night talk show host who interviews real life guests including Hulk Hogan, Weird Al Yankovich, and even Kevin Smith. http://www.tvtome.com/SpaceGhostCoasttoCoast/. It also spawned a spin-off called The Brak Show about a villain from the original cartoon (who’s now an assistant on the chat show) when he was younger and got into various typical sitcom situations like looking after the neighbours fish etc. http://www.tvtome.com/BrakShow/
Aqua Teen Hunger Force - A fantastic cartoon about a milkshake, pack of fries, and chunk of meat. The series started out with them as detectives but soon faded into them sitting around doing nothing, meeting aliens, time travelling robots, and bantering between themselves. Sealab 2021 - In the 1970's there was an educational cartoon set under the sea called 'Sealab 2020'. Now, like Space Ghost it has been reinvented. The clever inhabitants of the original Sealab have been replaced by idiots who constantly cause problems and talk about random rubbish like putting their brains into robot bodies. Another programme is called Harvey Birdman an Attorney At Law, which turned the classic hero Birdman into a lawyer for various cartoon characters. Cases include Scooby and Shaggy in a drug bust and Fred Flintstone as a Sopranos style gang leader. It also stars Office Space's Gary Cole as Birdman. I haven't seen this yet, but the DVD's out early next month. http://www.tvtome.com/HarveyBirdmanAttorneyatLaw/
If you're already a fan, discuss.
"Zing-of-the-day"
There's an episode of sealab 2021 where the old guy starts an underwater pirate radio station that's WELL worth seeing as well. it's such a great idea, a year underwater has led them all to go a bit strange, which i guess is reasonable :)
