just had confirmation though paypal that my ebay purchase had been sent and gave me a tracking number... (sent via special delivery)

I checked royal mail website and it told me to check in the evening, just the usual.

I then phoned the seller thanking him for posting the item, but alas, he hadn't sent it then (he said he had about 4 hours later)

is this possible and he's not trying to pull the wool over my eyes I didn't know you could get a tracking number in advance

it said on the tracking service that it was special delivery, before 9am.

I am going to go absolutely furious at him if it doesn't show, he couldn't send it because he didn't have a penny to his name now that his paypal account was frozen, so he wanted me to send him another tenner and he would pay me back, this didn't go down to well with me, and after rowing with him and a few expletives he said he would post it that day after finding some money from somewhere.

That's a proper code.

And yes, it is possible to get them in advance if you buy prepaid packets. But to send a normal item, as is, you wouldn't get a code until you paid for the service.

I wasn't thinking straight there.

Although if your talking about slips that sounds more like a recorded delivery rather than a special delivery.

Thanks headfix, i'm still going to be checking royal mail track and trace periodically just to make sure, this bloke was a bit of a nobchop, selling a few items may have ment he grabbed a few to save time, I live in hope

Yeah there's nothing to stop you walking out of a Postt Office with your Special Delivery envelope. You still have to post it at a post office however. If you pop it in the postbox it goes nowhere.

It said that the items are first tracked when the enter the main depot. it was sent from london so it'll be soon I hope (posted around 5)

I asked on the forums on ebay and they said you can get the special delivery slips in advance, I found it a bit strange though.

If I phone them up would I get more detailed information (if they are in I guess)

You cannot get a tracking number in advance of posting an item, no.

I don't understand how they have given you one if they haven't posted it.

What is the number? I'll tell you if it's legit (or at least appears so)

I think it's the name of the strips going across the pie that give it that name...
