Any good recommendations for a benchmarking tool?

Has to be executable from a floppy as I have a sneaky feeling that they will not let me install something on the uni computers.

Also, for a more game type benchmark (as featured in CPC - Custom PC), try www.benchemall.com.

It has plugins that emulate the latest games (plugins released soon after each game, lurvely) such as Doom 3, Half-Life 2, Far Cry etc.

It even has a plugin for 3DMark03 - a synthetic benchmark in it's own right.

Just use the link to the website, PC Pitstop, that I just posted. That'll benchmark CPU and Memory in the standard full tests and no registration is required.

It will be CPU and Memory. I have to compare 4 different computers and write a report on their differences and why they differentiate.

I'd not even heard of benchmarking programs until 3 hours ago :(

What about the PC are you trying to benchmark? If you are trying to gauge CPU performance, look for something which calculates Pi to lots of decimal places - SuperPi or something. I'm sure one of those will be executable from a floppy disk.
