With the fantastic $ -> £ conversion rates at the moment, I thought I might take advantage of the almost-half-price discount. The thing is, though, are there any compatability issues if, say, I were to buy a graphics card and a few other components in America? Would voltage and/or NTSC/PAL issues arise? As far as I know, there shouldn't be a problem with games, but what about DVDs for example? Would I need internal Step-down conveters?

Cheers.

Graphics cards have DIP switches on them for PAL/NTSC video signals. Everything else I believe works out of the box regardless or region.

All PC components are universal. I usually wait till my US holiday to do a major upgrade as it's more than likely going to be cheaper.

As for DVD drives, they're region free to start with (at least, all mine have been) and only lock onto a specific region the minute you put one in. If you put an R2 in, it'll lock to that. R1, ditto. They do allow up to 5 region changes though, before permanent lock. I use DVDXPlayer Professional (acquired) which makes the drive region free forever :D

Apart from the All-In-Wonder issue mentioned by Poopots, you have nothing else to worry about really.

Think all in wonder cards might spring a problem. On my 9800pro their was a jumper I had to move to make it Pal.

DVD's are region locked. There is software to get round this though...

As for PC parts, my old Mobo was a US mobo.

And it worked fine.
