To be fair to Milan, they played well - Maldini still has class at 36, Cafu still solid, and Stam once again showed why he should never have been sold.

Unfortunately for Manchester United, far too many of their "stars" were anonymous (Rooney, Scholes, Van Nistelrooy) too ball greedy/tried too hard (Ronaldo) or simply not good enough (Fortune, Brown). I guess they didn't really envisage talisman Ferdinand making the sole stuff-up of the game and allowing Crespo (you say he's a reject but he's always been world class) a free header - in the Champions League you can't really afford to give that to ANYONE.

Its a shame because although I am an Everton fan I would have liked to have seen United go through, and yes, I was even hoping Rooney would turn on the style.

There's always next year.

Interesting that in all three of the games last night, the home team ended up going through. And also, the team that eventually went though was the first to score in the first leg.

Inter play the next game at home, and scored first in the first leg. I fancy their chances. :)
