Huzzah im applying for a 1 day a week course in contrcution and landscaping at Gulford College. I had to write a paragragh or two about why I wanted to do it and was hoping maybe you could give soem positive critisicm about my first draft.

I would like to do landscape and construction because I have been interested in the field of work since I was 10, at the age of 12 I went upto Devon in the summer for a bit of experience in the trade. This consisted of mixing cement and white sand at a 3:1 ratio and laying slate to build an ornamental pond. I also had some experience with a mini digger transporting rocks up a small cliff in order to help build a 30ft waterfall.

After the 2 weeks my passion for the building trade intensified even more which is why I want to take this 1 day course in construction and landscaping. I admit my attendance hasn't been to good at school in the past but lately I have been at school 100% and have been putting alot of effort into all of my lessons. I only hope you can consider me in this course.

Yours sincerely, Joe Franklin.

I tried to correct some errors but I'm pretty tired, so it won't be that accurate. Anyway, I don't think you should mention your truancy unless they ask.

When you describe what happened in the course try not to go into too much detail, they wont care. Instead go for more about what you gained from the course. While avoiding cliches try to put accross that you gained teambuilding skills and the importance of hard work and attentiveness to the insrtuctions given. Say that you were given the chance to use your own inititive and that you loved the aspect of working independantly and as a member of a team.
Try not to put any negatives into the statements. Instaed of saying that a while ago i didn have very good attebdance (i cant remember what you said) say that "recently my attendance has been eccelent and i feel this has ciontributed to my good grades at school and has added to my enthusiam to study this course" etc...
Anyhoo best of luck and just be yourself and if you feel confident yopu will always get what you want, it just mite take a bit longer than you at first think but everything always works ou t best.
good luck
