I've had Flash MX for ages now, about 2 years and I still can't get my head around it, although I can make basic animations, but when I say basic I mean basic. You'll have to read a hell of a lot of books on Flash Movie Making.
If you want the full version, you'll have to pay or take a change and download it from KaZaA.
Indeed, 'tis not easy and don't think you'll be able to make great movies straight away.

You need Flash MX and I think it retails at around 300 quid. ;-)
