"Possible network latency?"

I use a laptop with WinXP, networked to a hub which comes from a PC running Win98. Is that likely to cause any kind of network issue? I've had really bad lag on the internet since we had our broadband "repaired" in January. But this week has been worse than ever. I know SR has had problems today, but an intermittent internet service since January 1st (yes, it went on a holiday weekend of all times - they didn't repair it for a week!) has started to peev me ever-so-slighty.

So whay could it be?

Network?

NTL?

Laptop?

Other?

How exactly do your machines connect to the internet? Which one of your machines shares out the internet connection, or did you mean 'router' when you said 'hub'?

What sort of ping do you get between your computers? How about to google.com?

Programs on your laptop that are using the internet/network - could be virus related.

How far away is your laptop from the hub?
