I'm bored of the conventional CSS boxed layouts, and as "elegant" as they are, for my homepage I'm looking for a more unique look. I remember Tyla (who else?) giving a couple of links, but I forgot to bookmark them. So, any weird and wonderful CSS templates or sites you've come across, can you post the URLs here please? Thanks.

Zeldman - Designing with Web Standards
O'Reilly - CSS the definitive Guide (Eric Meyer)
O'Reilly - CSS Cookbook (Christopher Schmitt)
Web Standards Solutions: The Markup and Style Handbook (Dan Cederholm)
There's several others out there, but these are the main ones on my book shelf.
Rest of it was learnt via A List Apart, Sitepoint, Designate Online

Tyla, are there any good CSS books you would recommend? I taught myself CSS a few years ago, but didn't realise there was so much to it. I think I need a good book to teach me it all.
Thanks, those are the ones. However, I'm also looking for a specific layout, used in a personal site that I'm sure was linked here a while ago. It used sky blue as the mian colour, with splats not unlike the SR one for menu options.
i used that method to set up a container "frame" to whack the site design inside of, but for some reason it doesn't center istelf in IE.
any ideas why??
any ideas why??

I expect the CSS sets the first
's width (600px or something) then sets the margin to auto, probably like this:
div#container {
width: 600px;
margin: auto;
}
The auto value tells the web browser to automatically set the
div#container {
width: 600px;
margin: auto;
}
The auto value tells the web browser to automatically set the
's margin (area outside of the
), which in this case gives it an equal share of the left and right space available, giving the centred effect.

right, i'm probably missing something really easy here, but how does the content on that site centre itself when you resize the window?
the html goes straight from the tag to specifying

right, i'm probably missing something really easy here, but how does the content on that site centre itself when you resize the window?
the html goes straight from the tag to specifying
's and i can't find a "center" value in either the html or .css files.
