When I was in school 6/7 years ago there were calculaters on the computers, I think they were part of the windows of the time. I have been looking foe this function on windows xp but carnt seem to find one anywhere! Is there one in there somewhere, and if yes where should I look?

OR

Go into add/remove programs via the control panel, click on add/remove windows components and ensure that the box for "accessories and utilities" is checked, then click add/install/whatever.

All good - but surely they won't work if he doesn't have the calculator installed?

If you're also missing stuff like MS Paint then you'll want to use my method I think. It's happened to me before - only recently figured it out :-)

Yeah, yeah, but the add/remove windows components utility is pretty confusing, and considering that you can access it through add/remove programs, disk cleanup or whatever else it's likely most will have messed around with it and inadvertently removed something they want to keep.
