Sorry for another HL2 thread, but there's so many already, I don't know where to start. And I'm lazy so I'll make my own to ask this question :P

I bought HL2 from Dixons yesterday for the Princely sum of £29.99.

All installed and stuff, yey. However, I can't get Half Life:Source and most probably DoD:Source when that launches.

So, how will I be able to get these, without forking out for the Silver pack ($60? Sod that, I've alrteady got the 2 main games). Will they be released as standalone purchases/upgrades or am I buggered?

That's it. ta.

It wasn't really designed as a remake though, more a test to see how Mod makers could transfer their HL1 mods to the Source engine. That's what I've read anyway.

The only thing I find disappointing about HL: Source is that they've kept the same character models in, not even using updated versions from any of the expansion packs that followed. Not to matter though, Modders are already working to replace these as well as a whole host of new updates.

Really? I could have swore the latest non-source one was 1.6.

Not that it matters, Source is mint.

Yeah CS: Source is version 1.6, this is the best version of Counter-Strike yet.

Yeah, true. I'd personally hate to pay for it only to find out it's basically half life with a few more effects though. So I'm not. ;)

As to the 1.6 you mention, I've never noticed. I'll have to have a look tonight. I'm getting right into counterstrike. Having said that though, the people I've played against have all been pretty polite and avoid the "leet r>

Bah.

It would be nice to try it out sometimte though :(

OT, but how come when I play CS:Source, it says I'm playing CS v1.6 (on the first popup when you join a game)

I wouldn't be too worried about HL : Source, as apparantly it's poor. Half life, recompiled with the source engine. Ragdolls, improved water effects, but original textures and models.

All in all a bit pointless.

DOD : Source, I couldn't tell you about.
