I'm not sure what is going to be said about this idea, I have suggested it all before and think it is such a great idea that is actually possible that SR should seriously consider taking it on board...

...I have given Tony the website where they organise such great events, and they have indeed doneone with SR last year, I attended it was hugely successful... and is a day I will never forget.

Here are the rules that SR should use:

Rules

1. Format

1a) The objective of the UK Console Championships is to determine the best players in the United Kingdom on each of three games, one for each for the following consoles :
· Dreamcast
· Playstation
· N64

1b) The SR Championships (should) will be decided over 4 regional qualifiers and a grand final. The two best players on each console from each of the four regional qualifiers will compete in The Grand Finals to be held on at an appropraite event and place....

1c) The prize money/or prizes won at the Qualifiers will not be awarded on the day, but will be sent to the winner's the following week.

1d) Competitors may not comsume alcoholic beverages during the tournament. Any competitor found to be doing so faces disqualification from the tournament.

2. Eligibility

Competitors must be :
(i) 13 years of age or over. Competitors who are 13-15 years of age must register a parental consent form..

(ii) A UK resident

2b) (sorry Tony) Employees of, or freelancers associated with, Speical Reserve or Sponsors are ineligible to enter.

2c) Only players for which a correctly completed entry form is received will be eligible to compete in any qualifier, although places are limited, and are allocated at SR's discretion.

2d) Players must also agree to cooperate with SR, with publicity surrounding the event.

3. Format

3a) The two highest placed competitors in each of the three consoles will be selected to represent that region at the grand Final. They will be selected using the following:

Dreamcast - Soul Calibur
PlayStation - Gran Turismo 2
N64 - Goldeneye

(I choose these games as they are now old and competition will be fierce)

3b) For each of the three consoles there will be a maximum of 64 competitors per qualifier.

3c) For each of the three games the 64 competitors will be split into 8 mini leagues. The best two scorers from each of those two leagues will go through to a 16 person double elimination knock out round in order to determine the 2 qualifiers.

3d) Each game in the mini leagues will be scored as follows. 3 points for a win, 2 points for a draw, 1 point for a loss and zero points for a no show

3e) A player that fails to arrive for a match within 10 minutes of the start time of that match will score zero points in the mini league stage and lose the match in the knockout stage.

3f) In the event of two or more players scoring the same number of points at the mini league stage necessary to get through to the knockout stage, the following will be used to determine the final order:
· Soul Calibur - total number of victories
· Gran Turismo 2 - fastest race time
· Goldeneye - total number of frags

3g) If this fails to separate the players then 1 on 1 matches will be used to decide who proceeds to the knockout stage.

3h) The two winners from the knockout stage will be invited to attend the Grand Final of the SR Console Championships.

3i) Players may only register for 1 console at 1 qualifier, due to the number of players and timings of the event.
