Sure Nintendo stole the show but I was personally dissapointed. Why? About a year of hype that is why! I was excited for an entire year Nintendo were going to say nothing untill E3 I was dying to find out more and when E3 came of course I was suprised but I half expected Nintendo to stunner us all and blowing away the competition.
Spaceworld 2001, The Nintendo show two more Nintendo shows one in the land of the rising sun and the other in merry old England, So Nintendo didn't knock me off my feet mainly because if Nitnendo tell us everything at E3 what is there to be told at Spaceworld and the Nintendo show?
Of Course Sony is having to sit in the shadows during this mighty hype war between Microsoft and Nintendo but when this has ended Sony will emerge again and triumph... or will they?
Here's to the future

Why can't we
> have a pricewar?
Because people buy the machines and games at the RRP.
Companies tend to wait until the initial market is realised (not earlier than 6 months after release) before gradually lowering prices - or in the main offering 'old' or unsuccessful games as part of a package for the original or slightly higher price.
Once a company realises that their machine is not going to make it in the long run they will reduce their own prices - shorlty followed by the other console manufacturers to ensure they don't lose a chunk of the market to the 'bargain hunters'. There are also reduced manufacturing costs in time.
As for game prices, these will remain high until that machine's market is big enough to allow potential for greater sales. Again, there are the possibilities of reduced development and manufacturing costs - and price reductions for poor selling games, although these are mainly at the retailers discretion (e.g. Aqua Aqua on PS2 currently sells for only £15 at EB).
Ideally we would be able to force a price war through the choices we make. There has been a lot of press about the costs of new games, but the game hungry public continue to buy, buy, buy. We could revolt and not buy the games, but then run the risk of fewer UK releases. Unfortunately it is a market where we have very little influence and can be dictated to by the likes of Sony, Nintendo etc.
The only real way people can pay lower prices is to wait until the consoles have been out for afew years then buy up the budget ranges and gradually cheaper new software - but then what fun would that be? - It would be like buying a Playstation now with a brand new copy of Actua Soccer. Yippee.
We are all fools - but having a good time.
Why can't we have a pricewar?
Sounds like a war to me!
