We've now received 3 "Dancing Stage Megamix" games from a well known online UK store (think: big tanned women who are scary). None of the CDs work, I just hear clicking sounds from the PS2, although all our other games are fine (Ratchet and Clank 3 "rocks" I'm told - even I think that whip thing is cool).
One duff Megamix CD I could understand, 2 is unfortunate, but 3??? Is there anything I could try to make this thing work? The dancemat that came as part of the bundle works fine. I'm now the proud owner of 3 CD's and two dance mats .
Any help for a old fogey much appreciated. I have a disappointed 8 year old!

Give Sony a ring (number is in the back of the manual that came with the game). It might be that the PS2 lens is mis-aligned or having trouble reading certain types of discs due to dust.
Immediate problems that spring to mind (you DID say you were a dumb parent):
Is it a PS2 game?
Are you putting the disc in the right way?
I don't know much about the series, is this a PS2 game or a PS1 game that you're trying to play on a PS2? If the latter is the case, a few select games won't play on PS2.
Other than that, I can only suggest you have a defective 8 year old.
