"I wish I was playing for Real Madrid. If I'm not, I'm going to have to carry on playing with some bad people"
Classic :D
> They can't really give him a first team place over Ronaldo,
> he's been the league's, never mind club's, top scorer for some years,
I got that wrong - he's only been the top scorer once, but been the club's top scorer since he joined.
Still can't find Reyes in the top scorer's lists though.
The words he used in Spanish, although sometimes can be used to the effect of "bad", are more commonly used in terms of performance. Ie. they are "below par", "not at their best". He was talking about their performance. It all seems to be a little clearer looking over what he said now.
And I think they do want Owen, he does get a lot of time on the pitch. They can't really give him a first team place over Ronaldo, he's been the league's, never mind club's, top scorer for some years, and Raul is not only one of the league's all time top scorer's, but is a massive fan favourite, supported the club as a child, came up through the junior ranks etc. It would take a brave coach to replace Raul in the starting line up.
Robinho should be good to fill in that fourth striker slot (Portillo isn't really good enough for the team) or replace Zidane in the attacking midfield position. Hopefully he'll do well, although I can see him taking a bashing at the hands of certain defenders like Puyol.

He was definitely Sevilla's top scorer, because I noticed him before he was linked with Arsenal.
Besides, I don't think Real want Owen or Reyes. There are others that would fit the bill better.

Actually, I don't think that's right. I've just checked soccer-spain.com's top scorer lists going back a years, and I can't see him on any of them. Maybe he was Sevilla's third top scorer, but not in La Liga.
Robinho is able to play in an offensive midfield or centre forward role I believe, so I still don't think they really need Reyes. Don't forget they also have on form Solari, who's just signed for another four years, and Guti, who can play in almost any midfield position.
The only reason I could think for Real doing a Reyes for Owen swap is Robinho coming in at the end of the season. He'd be the third choice, so they wouldn't need Owen, and Reyes could replace Portillo as fourth choice. But I think they'd rather have both Owen and Robinho so they could have an excellent strike force in any combination and would be able to rotate.
