So I was outvoted in my family in the Broadband votes, and my lazy mother especially has decided to get *shudder* AOL.
So, I had to pick the package and I got AOL Gold for £24.99 a month, unlimited. Got an email with the regular rubbish in it, a particular few lines stuck out though:

"Please note that if you access AOL through our narrowband network (i.e. via a standard dial-up telephone connection), then you will have to pay per minute local rate call charges once your price plan has been changed to AOL Broadband. This will happen when we send you your Easy-Install pack."

Now, that seems to me that not only will I have to pay £24.99 but I'll ALSO have to pay line rental. Now would I be correct in this statement?

Well you are still using the phoneline when you are using your broadband, but basically all you need to know is that as long as you dont use your 56k modem (why would you anyway? even if your broadband is down, going back to this will be too painful) you won't incur any extra charges.

Hang on a minute here, too many punches to the head, I am confused.

I don't have to use the phoneline when using broadband. So, as long as I use the BB modem I don't have to pay extra, right?

Sorry about this, I've had a rough day..

Edited for a retarded spelling mistake.

Same as all ISPs...

None of them pay your phone line rental!

You do have to pay line rental as well as the £24.99 to AOL though...

Not really. You're not gonna be using the phone line now you've got broadband...

I feel for you, RoJ.

Still, it could be worse. You could have stayed on Dial-Up...

No, it's saying if you connect to AOL with your 56k modem instead of through your broadband modem you will be charged per minute as it is not included in your price plan.

Wonderful...
... and so easy-to-use even for a technophobe like me. I had my website up in a couple of hours. Thank you.
