i just got myself a 160gig Maxtor Diamond Max plus 9 HD (6Y160PO)

Maxtor big drive enabler has boosted me up to 152.66 gigs.
i know a certain amount of space is "lost" due to the maths of windows/manufacturers using different measurements (ie: 1000megs or 1024 megs = 1 gig) so what next??
shall i chalk that remaining 7 ish gigs up to maths or is there a way to get it all?

novatech advertised the SATA version but i ended up with IDE.
not really a problem as i was just replacing another IDE drive, but it's something to watch if you order from them as the same thing happened with my mobo: their description lists a load of stuff that you CAN have on the board, but the version they sell doesn't have the firewire or 3rd IDE connector.
a little annoying and sadly they have a returns policy of "lalalala i can't hear you".

It's a good drive. I have one. Or at least, I have the SATA version. And yes, in proper computing terms that is the size of it, it's 160 GB in marketing terms.

You won't squeeze anymore out of it. The size is spot on for a Maxtor 160GB.
