Gaming is important. We all like to participate in something new, something exciting and something that might somehow enlighten and brighten our lives! Playing games does help I feel, and recently I have been playing a wonderful game called Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 2 - wow!!

Ok, so if you have a son or a daughter, you may well play sports with them, teach them maths (basic sums if they are small) and generaly partake hobbies in one way or another! My son and I often reside to his Dreamcast games machine and I try to play against him at one of his various games, and I have been impressed by the likes of Metropolis Street racer (see my opinion if you like), hated Sega Rally 2, but I found this one, Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 2 (to give it's full name) a tad different! I've never been skateboarding in real life, my son has and loves it so got this to play on when it rains and so forth - I guess I like THPS2 because it's unique, easy to get into and more importantly, I beat my son!!!

Here's the situation! A few televisions in the house enable me to play on the fantastic Mega Drive and the like, as well as watching films, televsion and for my son to play his games. One day he said 'come 'n' have a look at this dad!' so, after a few calls (orders) I made my way to a buzzing Dreamcast, how noisy they are bemuses me, and to an incredibly excited son!! 'Wow, it's got a park editor' and 'hey dad, look at this new character I created!' which didn't really mean much to me, but I'm glad he found it satisfactory, the game being a present and everything.

The best thing is, is that I really found this game engrossing and so I secretly played on it while I had a week or so off work, and my son was at work, so now whenever we have a 2player game, be it the horse, tag or point attack mode, I always win! He's getting better, but it's quite funny to see his expressions when I get a 27,000 point trick in the Marseille venue, it's really excellent fun! I've created my own player, named 'EYECATCHER' naturally, and so far I've completed the game a few times!!

The graphics are amazing with superb textures, lighting effects and an amazing catalogue of mind spinning tricks! The level editor is a very exciting feature allowing you to create an entire skate park at your discreation! AMAZING!!! The music is really hip hop with tunes that'll make you dance around your living room in your socks and boxers because Papa Roach and the like are superb!!

An amazing game, that is stylish, funky and very fun to play and beat your son at!!

But on a large enough screen? It's gotta be done, you know it makes sense! Then there could be teams.... Le Mans 24 worked a treat four player!

Tony Hawk's is indeed one of the best 2player games - but a 4 player mode would be sweet!

Speaking of Tony Hawk's 2, I got into the ODM challenges list in issue 19 in tenth place with just over 3,000,000 points

That is a shame Mattyboy, I think playing with another family member is very important, although the single player game is quite entertaining - i.e. role playing games.

Waiting for your son 'I am the tarrant'? Have fun playing games!

THPS 2 certainly is one of the best games out there at the moment (until THPS 3 of course).

Not having a son, I've not quite experienced the game in the same way, I have to make do with a younger and an older brother and I always win too!!!!

Perhaps I could get my father to play whilst waiting for my own son to come along!?!
