ah fair enough Flock, i've not heard the directors commentary.
as i said, it was pretty good, but spoiled by the audience.

Great music, well shot, good acting and an interesting story, i don't think it was that pretentious, that comes from people trying to take a deeper meaning from it. Listen to the directors commentary he was only interested in telling a story and wasn't intent on explaining everything, partly why i like the film so much is it's not over-explained, i like how its layered and there is so much you dont notice.
It's become fashionable not to like it but stuff fashion, it's a good film.

I don't really care what anyone else says about it being pretentious - sure, it is, but I really enjoyed it.

It was pretentious, yes, and tried to be clever than it was.

But who cares - I thoroughly enjoyed it.

I got this because everyone was raving about it. I don't get it either and can't be bothered to get the director's cut. It has some cool music; is there a soundtrack?

it's a fairly good film, wrapped up in too many arty visuals.

That sums up Darko pretty much.

It's no more intelligent than the time travelling episode of Blackadder. It just trys to appear so by being vague and using a bit of stupid imagery.
