I wasn't so sure about them at first. For about 6 quid more than a video cassette I thought they were a bit over pricy -after all it's the same film isn't it? With the same stuff? The answer is no. Yes they are the same film, but firstly the quality is so much better. It's easier to navigate around the film with chapters you can select and different speed fast foward and rewind buttons. So instead of having to take ages rewinding to find your favourite scene you can simply click a few buttons and you are there. Genius! Such ease of viewing. Secondly even if you only have a DVD Cd-rom you CAN watch your DVDs on a tv by getting a cable to connect up your pc to the television. A monitor, even though it sounds less luxurious does the same job. Dim the lights get a sofa and it's just like a television.
The best thing about DVDs though is the added extras. Most DVDs have them. They offer various things such as the bits that went wrong, documentaries, games and music videos. You get all this bundled in with the film and each extra makes it that little bit more special. Some of the documentaries are on the topic of the film. Final Destination for example has a documentary on a reallife person who has premonitions. These things are actually really interesting. Other DVDs have the making of the film and are great to watch giving you an insight on how a film is made, the atmosphere and it makes you feel more of a part of the film.
My message? Buy DVDs. You won't regret it :D.
