I've recently overclocked my XFX 6600 GT a little bit. It's now on 550/1100.

The GPU Temperature while not running games and just say browsing the internet like now stays at 39/40c. Obviously this will shoot up in applications demanding more power.

Was just wondering what a safe GPU Core temp would be and if I should consider some cooling even at the current level of overclocking.

Thanks.

Providing you don't get crashes (usually caused by GPU clocked too high) or display corruption (artifacts and the like usually caused by too high a memory clock) then you should be fine. Mine idles at around 30 - 32 and when in use around 48 - 50.

Over-clocking is only dangerous if you go f**king stupid.

Thats pretty average for a GPU with stock cooling, before I added cooling to my card it used to idle at around 56C and peak around 72C. You can always invest in more cooling however, a cooler card never hurt anyone ;-)
