I like this idea, in principal.

I don't have the same time to check the forums as I used to unfortunately (though I wouldn't change things for the world), so it can be a bit frustrating sifting through the posts that are of a chatty nature and are really 'you had to be there' type posts, to try and find some gaming discussions.

On the FOG a decent topic can easily slip off the page before receiving the attention it may deserve, and this is mainly because of the more 'chatty' posts.

I'd say leave it, and hope that it works as intended.

Maybe if more people posted in the separate platform forums (GAMECUBE, PS2) it would help calm the FOG down a little. I know that I've been posting plenty of Gamecube stuff lately there. First impressions, speculation etc, and it can be a little disheartening that they receive little attention simply because they aren't on the FOG. But surely if I persist, they'll come round to my way of thinking.....

....right I'm off to watch Beta-Max videos ;-)

Ant - I'm not saying you can't chat on FOG 1.

Short posts, joking etc, even sniping, is all fine.

Providing it is in the spirit of the FOG, i.e. well written.

Well, you know how 1 Notable feels. I get the feeling that Grix doesn't like it either......

But, as I said, it's your choice Tony.

Exactly what I'm worried about.

But I'm assuming that

This won't happen. I enjoy talking about gaming in the FOG, and do it a lot. Yet I like the chat with people in the FOG as well-I won't be able to choose.

I suppose you could create a topic restriction.....

Bsically, it just will not take the strain if it grows

I've worked quite hard on this tonight, and I will be too busy to take time on the forums over coming days.

So I think we will leave it for a week or so and see how it settles.

I am particularly keen to hear the views of the notables and longer-standing regulars after it has been given time to settle down.

Lets give it a trial run. Say 3 months? If everyone still disagrees then turn back to 1

If it transpires that people are running back and forth all the time then I don't think this method will work.

But I'm assuming that people will settle to their favoured forum after a while.

It's the only way I could think of making that happen.

Also - Some of us would clearly like to see the higher standards return to FOG. There is no doubt that as it has become more popular it has suffer quite of lot more general chatter in proportion to the prime topics.

Bsically, it just will not take the strain if it grows any quicker.

Look, cheatguru came......and seemingly went. At the moment, everyone on FOG seems intelligent enough, and I believe that the FOG is as good as it's ever been, especially with E3!!

I don't like having to check 2 forums all the time....not at all....

But, I suppose it's your decision tony. Go with how you feel, mate.
