hello , this is a first for me and I need help if possible ? I have just moved to windows xp and I think there is a service pack2 inhere and a firewall....can anyone tell me if I can ... or how I cans witch these on...
they might even be running but I have no idea....by the way...computers are not my strong point....I can switch on and off and that is about my lot....thanks for now.....Papa.

On the desktop, right-click on My Computer, and click on Properties. On the General tab, under the System heading, it should say "Service Pack 2" if you have that installed.
If you do, then you may have the Windows Firewall installed. I believe (someone may wish to confirm this) that it is turned on by default if you do not have another firewall installed.
To see if it is turned on, go to Start > Control Panel. Double-click on Security Centre. It will say Firewll and then either On or Off. If it's off, you can click the button called "Windows Firewall" under where it says "Manage security settings for:", and then select "On (recommended)", and press OK.
