I dont know it just says that the uk version is cut on imdb. I dont know if it says though. I fyou look on the r1 version of the ultimate matrix boxset it is an 18. Thats on cdwow.

Yes 2003. I saw on imdb that it has been announced for 2006. I'm assuming that's the remake. Oldboy's a great film by the way.

Heh. Scanners is a fun movie. The remake could hold some promise though. I myself, thoroughly enjoyed the tcm remake. I'd almost go as far to say that it was better than the first one. But hey thats just my opinion. I bet this new scanners will end up being a lousy '15' though and will hardly have any gore. Either that or the uk version will just get cut to make it a 15. They do that alot you know. Apparently house of flying daggers is cut in the uk. As is the matrix. Wonder whats missing anyway? I'd just stop buying uk movies. Simple :)
Anyway, scanners remake, hmm, it will likely bomb. What the hell is with all these remakes anyway. Hollywood has run dry on originality. All they seem to do these days is remake excellent japanese films. Ooh assault on precinct 13 isn't far away...
The following japanese films are also being remade which sucks bollocs:

ring 2 (Ring 0 will no doubt follow)
oldboy (why? Its perfect already!)
Bloody americans!
