Difficulty is relative. Theres a few scripts out there that'll do it. Having said that google integrates into sites fairly well these days and is a far superior search engine to what you'll likely find in a free script. So the google branding is a small price to pay for a better facility in my opinion.
Is it easy to set up a search function in perl? I'd hate to rely on Google for that too.
Theres no inbuilt function (obviously) so google is your best bet. Put site:chat.freeola.com into the search box and then whatever you want to search for.

Unfortunately they havent created a search function for us yet, but we're still hoping. Not sure if there's a way you can get Google to do it though.
