Back in the days when 33Mhz was astounding and 1MB of RAM sent a shiver down your spine, PC gaming was somewhat basic. Game manufacturers had to make-do with basic graphics and little-action entertainment otherwise known as adventure games. As PCs progressed so did the adventure games, dazzling us with better graphics and sounds than ever. Games such as Monkey Island and Kings Quest were extremely popular and kept game players enthralled for weeks on end. In the mid 1990s the market was flooded with hundreds of weird and wonderful adventure games to suit almost anybody. But then…it stopped.

As Intel invented the Pentium II and PCs became faster and cheaper, the world of 3D gaming was born. The old point and click adventure games became a thing of the past. And my question is “why?”.

Game manufacturers are under the impression that if the characters don’t consist of polygons, the game just won’t sell. Thankfully the Kings Quest series continued, but wait, even that no longer holds hope. The latest in the series consists in a 3D world in which combat is an important element of the game. Adventure games today have turned in to little more than a complicated version of Doom. Personally, I would very much like to see the return of the good old fashioned point and click adventure game like Sam and Max which was entertaining and amusing. Just because it may not utilise every megabyte of RAM shouldn’t meant it’s not made.

And so I plead to the game publishers of the world, bring back Monkey Island…please?

Perhaps Lucasarts read his message, and thought, "Hey, now that's a good idea!"

Need I say thief 2? This is only the latest stage in my plot to infest the world wide web with references to my favourite game of all. And there is nothing you (points menacingly) or anyone else can do to stop me! Bwahahahahah!
