See, that was the same type of thing in COS.
You couldn't sneak past Filch there. But, you need to have the invisible cloak on you, that was the way it is supposed to be in COS. You need to get it real hard.
If you are just next to the curtains, you can walk into the curtains while pressing the sneak button, and the curtains will close behind you.
