Now - can I do this? Because of this whole crappy registering with your CD-key so the files can be unlocked etc.

Yes you can, just use the same steam account.

You won't be able to play CSS or HL2 deathmatch on both at the same time though.

Also its not like it will "do" any "harm" to "try" as long as it "doesn't" contact "steam".
