How does the body produce snot?

Only, mine seems to be doing it exceptionally well at the moment. I've had to blow my nose about every 10 minutes since about yesterday lunchtime, yet there's still more!

My ears have been bunged up since friday afternoon. I think I've got so much snot it's having to be stored in my ears.

I tried blowing them at work, and just got some strange looks....

True, but if you swallow the snot it would make little difference.

It's odd really, becuase I chuckled slightly at the image.

Different perspective, perhaps.

Isn't it your body trying to get the crap out of your system? So while sniffing solves the short term problem of snot, you're keeping the germs in your body for longer than you have to.

And there was one day at work where if I leaned back I'd be drinking it and if I leaned forward I'd start dripping on my desk. I spent the whole day trying to keep my head at the right angle.

I remember from my school days that it is something to do with dust particles from the air entering your nasal area

In this area there are tiny pores that produce mucus to allow the dust and rubbish to be excreted before it reaches your lungs, thus creating 'snot'

Correct me if I'm wrong however.

I'm guessing they are some kind of glands... like ones that probably produce saliva.

I think it's meant to block out further infection so... stop picking it.
