Well do you have a place to transfer the domain to?

The easiest thing to do really you know is pick a new register and follow their procedure for transfering a domain to them. They want your business they will tell you the steps to follow and help you through it.
The usual procedure is new register requests transfer of the domain. Firevision have to authorize it, which wont happen if they are out of business. Your new registrar will tell you this, at which point you'll be required to contact (presumably Tucows.com) and explain to them that you own the domain and would like it update the whois information for it.

Goto http://www.whois.org/ and put your domain in the WHOISUP Lookup.

It tells you the information about your domain. You'll probably find some stuff about firevision. But you also should look out for a referral URL, which usually tells you who firevision got the domain from in the first place.

EDIT: Typical whois.org isn't working atm, try www.allwhois.com instead.

Does the whois information for your domain have a referral URL in it?

Its not common these days to have to contact VeriSign to sort out such things as most domain name providers go through wholesalers as its cheaper.

If you're looking for a new company to manage your domain with, I can recommend one...look for a link from my web site: http://www.knight-sites.co.uk - it's on the left hand side...
