Aye.

When I refresh the server list on Steam, it triggers off Norton Anti-Virus' worm protection thing.

I click permit...then another pops up again instantly, but with a diff IP. And this happens about what, 10, 15 times?
It's irritating as hell. Despite Steam being in the list of permitted executables in NAV's settings, it still happens.

So any ideas?

It does seem excessively complex. Obviously this can be useful as it lets people customise it more, but most of the people I was dealing with knew how to load Internet Explorer by double-clicking the icon and that was about it.

But even if it is setup correctly, it still puts excessive load on the system.

I know there are known issues with older (pre 2004 pro) versions and sp2 which causes major problems, but as i've said, with over 4 years of using NIS, I've never had a problem myself.

Addmittidly, it is a little over complex for your "average" user;)

Cos Norton does more harm than good. Over the Xmas hols, I put a flyer round houses down my street offering to come in and cleanup peoples' PCs for a fee.

I was called out 6 times, 4 of which were down, at least in part, to people installing Norton. It slows down a computer soooo much! It crippled mine when I installed it, and this is a reasonably fast machine.

Why do people have such an issue with Norton? I currently use NIS2004 Pro (combined with PrevX) and never had any proplems like this what so ever, as for NAV, again, no problems.

Is your virus definitions up to date?
