Does anyone have any experience of using Thunderbird? I'm finally getting rid of Hotmail, so I will be POP/IMAP only and can thus use Thunderbird. Is it any good? I'm using Outlook 2003 atm - is there anything of note that Thunderbird lacks that Outlook has?

Don't think Hotmail gives you that option. If it does though, I'd like to know how to do it.

Can you not forward all of that mail to your Thunderbird account? That's what I do from Yahoo!

I use it. I like it. Now my default mail client rather than Outlook, for no particular reason other than I felt like it. Get Gmail and Thunderbird and that's you.

Still use hotmail most of the time though because far too many people have the address to ever change it.

Outlook blocks images by default anyway.

thunderbird also lets you block images and code from HTML based emails so you have better security.

it's very good, a worthy counterpart to firefox.

I'd say it depends how you're using Outlook atm. Outlook is a personal organiser that handles email too. Thunderbird is an email client (although plenty of extensions available to give you other functionality).
I switched from Outlook Express to Thunderbird, cant honestly say its changed my life. I only did so as Thunderbird let me use the same email repository across several installs of windows.
