I would imagine, a new chipset will be required to handle the high speed transfer rate, as far as I know there aren't any SATA2 motherboards out yet.

I guess its like the jump from USB 1 to USB 2, in that the connectors remain essentially the same but the system will have been revised to be able to handle more than a tenfold increase in speed.

Don't really have time to google anything right now will read up on it later...

If only revising was as easy or as interesting as reading about the latest PC developments.

SATA 2...will that be supported by standard SATA motherboards or expansion cards? does the "2" bit affect the SATA module on the card or just the HDD?
