Does the man ever shut up? He's more involved in the game now he doesn't referee.... Heard someone chant "you're not fit to referee" about him the other day....

Anyway, my main point was something I heard him say on the radio (someone might have already posted this view but I don't care).

He said that the rules of football run through all the leagues. I think this does pose a problem as no matter whether Man Utd v Spurs or Satanage v Woking, the rules have to be the same. Can teams such as Wrexham afford all this new technology? After all a game like Stevenage v Woking is just as important to those two teams as last night's game was to spurs and united "fans"... (No doubt Ashman or Quinty will back me up on that one)

But yeh... So I say yes, to maybe video replays on the goal line, but only one real ref is needed and don't bother with silly micro-chips and laser guns...

This guy annoys me, how can he criticise other officials and talk about incidents when he missed virtually every controversial incident in his whole entire career. Bloody fat self-important muppet

Clearly to have a view of the goal-line they would stand at the side of the pitch.... The lino would have less of the pitch to cover I guess, and the penalty guy would have 18 yards to cover, so not being up with play would be a bit inexcusable....

That's what I was thinking - where the hell would they stand?

But oh well.
Decent idea, just a bit...impractical.

Somebody who wrote to SSN about the whole thing had a pretty good idea in my opinion.

It was about having a sort of penalty area official (much like a linesman) as that's the most focused part of the pitch where the technology would be needed.
That way, decisions could be made pretty much instantly and play wouldn't have to be stopped etc.

Sounds decent to me.
