i was wondering what bit rate you should use for a mp3 player i have been using 256kb but that takes up a lot of room do i have been thinking of using 192 also i have heard that 256 mp3 is equal to 128 umcompresed.
i have decided that 192kb a second is ok

Encode a song you know well at different rates - e.g. 96, 128, 192 and 256 - and then listen to each version to see if you can tell the difference between them. Use the lowest rate acceptable, i.e. if you can't tell the difference between 128 and 192 then use 128.
