Watched it on tv this morning, even though I have the special edition on DVD. It's excellent, pure fantasy adventure, and the effects are pretty good for the eighties. I like it more than LOTR - they were pretty average in my opinion. Well, good, but no Willow!

You're all forgetting Krull, which was better than all of them, apart from that extreme gayness at the end.

You know - "We'll kill this thing with Love!"

Agreed, Last Crusade is the best of the three, Doom is the low point and it's still pretty good.

Willow is amazing, when I heard of the LoTR films coming out, and I found out what they were about (midget given something to take somewhere, soldier/wizard etc help him) I thought "Well it just sounds like Willow"

Of course now looking back you see Willow is just Star Wars in a fantasy land (with magic instead of the force) and is basically Lord of the Rings anyway.

Nah, we're talking the eighties here! I still remember seeing ROTJ in the cinema, and I was only 2/3. Indiana Jones (the good ones, before they funked it up with his Dad), Ghostbusters 1 & 2. Why aren't there any cinema experiences like that anymore?

Was DVD even thought of whilst it were in the cinema?

I remember watching this many many years ago. Was still in primary school at the time.

I liked it but found it a little weird at the same time.
