I don't think any films were meant to be classics, they become classics. Although, I get the impression that the director of the LOTR trilogy had one goal in mind, to make a classic. It is too obvious.

Jackie Brown was never meant to be a classic in the same way that Pulp Fiction or Reservoir Dogs were.

It's just a well made film with some fantastic dialogue.

From Dusk Till Dawn is worth a look but I think that Jackie Brown wasn't up to Tarantino's usual standard.

Pulp Fiction is his best in my opinion, though Resevoir Dogs is pretty close behind.

No ground breaking opinion there then.

The director doesn't switch half-way through as far as I know.

It's all Rodriguez directing, Tarantino was just there to lend a hand. He also co wrote the script and helped to edit the film.

I'm pretty sure anyway....

I thought Reservoir Dogs was more approachable than Pulp Fiction, so it gets the nod for me. Asides from that I've only seen From Dusk Til Dawn. I had no idea it was a Tarantino movie (although I'd guessed by about ten minutes in) and I had no idea the director switched half-way through. In the event I actually stopped the movie almost at the point it switches, then went back to watch the rest a week later, and wondered where my film had gone :S

It is a great film. What films have tried to rip it off? I've watched a lot of gangsta films and the only other ones that are similar are Tarantino's other films like Pulp Fiction.

Reservoir Dogs.
Because every heist/gangster/crime flick since has been imitating and doing badly.
Because 3 of us walked out of the cinema that afternoon going "What the hell was that?" before going in that evening to watch it again.
Because of Lawrence Tierney & Michael Madsen.
Because of it playing every Sat at midnight when it was banned on video and we all went each week.
