This morning I saw some news which made me feel rather happy.

Planet Harriers will be coming to the GameCube.

Planet Harriers is a very much updated version of a Sega arcade, and Sega Master System game, Space Harrier.

When I was a young lad, this was one of my favourite games, and many hours were spent playing the game. The idea of the original was quite simple. You were this bloke who could fly, kind of, and you had a big gun.

Anyway, enemies, trees, rocks and the like would come flying towards you at lightning pace (well it was lightning pace for the Sega Master System, anyway) and you'd have to either shoot them, or avoid them.

At the end of each level was a very impressive lookng (for the day) boss. Man these seemed tough!

Now I learn that the latest version of the game (which is either currently in arcades, or coming soon) will get a GameCube release.

If I think about the limitations of the SMS, and what Space Harrier was made to be, then I think about the power of the GameCube, then I can see one outstanding game!
