In a bid to reduce the amount of noise my PC makes, I have got Cool&Quiet running now. It drops the CPU speed down to 1GHz when not in use - e.g. overnight - and Q-Fan turns my CPU fan speed right down - off for most of the time and the CPU stays at around 30°C!!

I have also found I can turn off some of my case fans, but the thing producing the most noise (by far!) is the fan on my 9800XT Graphics card. I've had a look at the Arctic Cooling Rev.4 ATI 3 VGA Cooler to solve this.

Is this worthwhile? My card is running very hot as it is (circa 70°C at times) and I would like it quieter. Is it compatible with my card (Hercules 9800XT Classic 256MB)? How hard is it to fit?

I've had a look on the respective web sites, but if anyone has any experience of this product, please let me know! I tried turning off all my other fans, and it makes no difference to the noise - the graphics card fan is the only one you can hear anyway. My PC would be near silent if it wasn't for that fan.

Thanks in advance.

It's a lot quieter on the lowest setting, i would say its worth the time and money.

How much quieter is it? Worth the time/money? Are there any other ways to quieten it? Also, how risky is fitting it? I built the PC myself, but I've never modded components themselves before...

It's quieter than the stock heatsink and fan, how hard it is to fit depends, i had to remove the shim to ensure good contact which was a bit of a pain.
